Getting Started in Project Management

Workshop Description

Getting Started in Project Management is suitable for new project team members or project managers. This step-by-step, simple-to-use project management method is designed for small and medium size projects. This course emphasizes the basic skills that are required to participate in or to manage a project successfully.

This hands-on workshop covers all the basic skills that non-technical project leaders and project team members need in order to create more successful projects - projects that better satisfy the customers, that require less rework and change, that team members support, in short, projects that are completed on time and within budget. Learn how to plan, execute, and close out a project by using the easy to follow, step-by-step Griffin Tate CORE Project Management® method as outlined in the Project Management Memory Jogger™.

The method is composed of tools and techniques that are Total Quality based and that enhance team participation in both the planning and monitoring phases of a project. Attendees learn how to write a charter, create an effective project plan, monitor project progress, manage changes to the project plan and close out a project. Workshop attendees practice the method by working through a case study or by working on a project of their own.

This workshop is led by specially trained and certified GTG Trainers. Includes participant workbook and a copy of the best selling book, The Project Management Memory Jogger - a Pocket Guide for Project Teams.
